State Bank of Patiala (SBP) was founded on 1917 by Bhupinder Singh, Maharaja of erstwhile Patiala state. The Bank was named as Patiala State Bank. After the formation of the Patiala and East Punjab States Union (PEPSU) in 1948, SBP brought under the control of Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
